The city of North Myrtle Beach was chartered May 7th 1968, when Windy Hill, Crescent Beach, Ocean Drive Beach and Cherry Grove Beach combined to become one and the name North Myrtle Beach was decided. NMB is the birth place of South Carolina's state dance, the shag. This is also the hometown of Vanna White, co-star of "Wheel of Fortune."
